About Ian Monoghan, MA, LPC, NCC, BSP, CFRA

If you feel weighed down by relational hurt, past experiences, or the challenges of life, therapy can provide a safe and supportive space to slow down, be heard, and begin to heal. My goal is to help you recognize the patterns that may be influencing your life, reshape what is no longer serving you, and cultivate greater connection, trust, and freedom.

I believe therapy is a place where you can explore who you are while being genuinely seen, known, and cared for—even in the midst of hardship. I strive to create a non-judgmental environment where you can feel safe to be yourself and know that you will be met with kindness.

Together, we will explore your experiences, shine a light on patterns and beliefs that may be operating beneath the surface, and work toward a path forward. I believe that no hurt is too great, no weight is too heavy, and no trauma is too intense to begin the work of healing. Your experiences do not disqualify you from living a full and meaningful life.

I approach therapy through an interpersonal neurobiology lens, helping you develop awareness of thoughts, beliefs, emotional patterns, and internal motivations that may previously have operated outside of your conscious awareness. As you gain that awareness, you can develop greater agency in how you understand and respond to the situations you encounter.

Our first few sessions will be a time for us to get to know one another, answer your questions about therapy, establish goals, and develop a plan for moving toward them. I take a holistic approach, considering the different areas of your life and how they may contribute to or hinder your overall well-being.

You do not need a therapist to “fix” you. I see my role more as a guide—much like the banks of a river. You are free to explore, process, and move at your own pace while I help keep us oriented toward the goals we have established together.

We will talk about hard things, but we will do so over time and as trust develops. You are in charge of your sessions and retain the freedom to share as much or as little as you are comfortable with. At the same time, I will thoughtfully challenge you when doing so can help you grow.

My background in ministry and other organizations has also taught me the profound value of connection and community. Healing can be difficult to pursue alone, and I want to help you discover how healthy relationships and community can support your journey. If it is meaningful to you, I am also happy to integrate your spiritual practices and faith into our work together.

Above all, I want you to experience that the strength gained through vulnerability can outweigh the risk of being known.

Outside of counseling, I work in student ministry at my church in Pennsylvania and help lead the worship team. I’m also active in the parkour community and train with a World Chase Tag team based in Denver.

My wife, Faith, is one of my greatest sources of support. Together, we enjoy movies, games, in-depth Bible studies, and going on adventures. We’re happiest when we’re surrounded by good people and making memories together.

I hope that through our work together, you will come to believe what I wholeheartedly believe: your story is not over, healing is possible, and there is still good worth pursuing.
