Lauran Thomas is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), practicing in both Virginia and Colorado. With a Bachelor's Degree from Coker College and a Master’s in Clinical Counseling from Johns Hopkins University, Lauran has continuously built her expertise through hundreds of hours of ongoing education. She is also trained at the advanced Level 3 in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, which is a highly respected approach grounded in four decades of research with thousands of couples.
At KS Services, LLC, Lauran integrates her Christian faith into her practice, offering a space for individuals seeking a mental health professional who shares their spiritual values. Her belief in the power of God’s goodness, kindness, and hope guides her as she supports clients, even when some may feel disconnected from their faith.
As a devoted wife and mother of three, including a fourteen-year-old daughter, Lauran draws on both her personal and professional life experiences. Over the past 21 years, she has worked in public school systems, private practices, and mental health clinics across the U.S. and abroad, including Maryland, Hawaii, Virginia, Colorado and Germany. Wherever she goes, her therapeutic approach focuses on building skills that improve emotional well-being and strengthen relationships.
Lauran has a wealth of experience in various counseling environments. From her time as director at Guide Program, Inc., to running an independent practice in Maryland, she has worked with adolescents, couples, and families through life’s many challenges. Her deep ability to connect with teens, helping them build trust and foster healthier family relationships, has always been a cornerstone of her work.
Her counseling journey began as a school therapist and in-home family counselor, evolving into program director roles, private practice work, and leading workshops on topics like personal self growth, mental health awareness, couples clinics and parenting strategies. Lauran brings a holistic perspective, integrating education and mental health insights to help families navigate personal challenges and create more harmonious home and school environments.
Specializing in couples and family therapy, Lauran is passionate about guiding clients through conflict resolution, communication struggles, and parenting challenges. Her expertise includes addressing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship dynamics, and more. In addition to her private practice, Lauran is dedicated to reaching broader audiences through workshops, retreats, marriage intensives and virtual events, making her services accessible globally.
Currently, Lauran offers in person and telehealth sessions for English-speaking clients over the age of 12 in Virginia, Colorado, and internationally, helping them build stronger relationships and achieve greater mental health stability and awareness.
