About Debbie Rackham, MA

Originally from California, Debbie has been in the Northern Virginia area for over 20 years. While raising her children, she spent a number of years working in the fitness industry and providing administrative assistance. After completing her bachelor’s degree from Liberty University in 2018, she began her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and graduated in 2020 from Marymount University.

As a therapist, Debbie’s desire is to create a space that is safe and accepting where challenges, struggles, and suffering can be shared openly and without judgment. She seeks to come to know you and help you come to know yourself more fully. While learning your story, she will work with you to understand influencing factors in your current struggles. 

​

The strategies we often develop on our own when confronting challenges may provide relief, but may not last for the long term. Although they serve a purpose, that purpose may be simply to survive. In counseling, my goal is to empower you to thrive. 

Although grounded in client-centered theory, Debbie’s approach to therapy will differ with each client according to their unique needs and way of viewing life. It is through this view that she will desire to meet you—as you are—and then walk with you to where you desire to go. Through collaboration, Debbie will journey with you toward meeting your individual goals.

Debbie's clinical experience has included working in a partial hospitalization program with adolescents struggling with eating disorders and in a community agency providing individual therapy for a variety of adults. She has assisted clients experiencing depression, anxiety, complex trauma, eating disorders, and other mental health struggles. In addition, she has a depth of lived experience regarding the challenges associated with military life. Her passions and interests surround complex trauma, PTSD, and abuse—both seen and unseen.
